VERY BERRY STORY 🍓

How a fruit, a silhouette, and a bunch of unexpected delays came together to make one very sweet spring dress.

If you’ve been around Nettle for a while, you know we love a good origin story — especially the kind with twists, turns, and lots of feels. This strawberry print is one of those. It’s been in the works longer than anything else we’re launching this year, and it holds a big ol’ juicy piece of our hearts.

Let’s rewind a bit.

 

IT STARTED WITH A MUSHROOM...
The Mushroom Silhouette was a game-changer for us. It showed up at a really transitional moment — when Nettle was shifting from made-to-order into slower, more thoughtful ready-to-ship drops. It was also when Alex stepped into a bigger leadership role and started designing pieces that felt more reflective of her personal style.

The Mushroom Dress is a little quirky, a little vintage-inspired, but still super wearable— and honestly, it kind of unlocked something. It became a symbol of what Nettle could be when we trusted our instincts and leaned into our weird.

The strawberry print comes from that same place.

 

 

STRAWBERRIES ARE A WHOLE THING...
Alex is obsessed with strawberries— seriously her kitchen is covered in them. It’s a known fact. They’ve snuck their way into our prints before (Tutti Frutti fans, we see you), but this is the first time they’ve gotten their own full-on moment. Sweet ivory background, cutesy red berries, just the right amount of kitsch. The good kind.

We’ve been dreaming this one up for a long time...

But getting it here? That’s a whole other story.

 

 

THIS FABRIC REALLY WENT THROUGH IT...
This particular fabric has been in the pipeline since... well, ages ago. And then the international tariff rollercoaster hit. Between shipment delays and our cut/sew partners needing to prioritize non-local customers before border fees hit, everything slowed way down. For a while, it felt like this whole collection might not happen at all.

But we stuck with it. Because we believed in it. And now, after what feels like a million tiny setbacks — it’s here.

 

 

THIS DRESS... SHE'S WORTH IT.
It’s a soft, easy silhouette made for spring days and strawberry lovers. It feels like a celebration— of slow fashion, of trusting the process, and of letting yourself be a little extra. The kind of dress you’ll throw on and instantly feel cute in. The kind that makes people smile.

So yeah, she’s just a dress. But she’s also a little time capsule — of a fabric that took forever, a silhouette that changed everything, and a fruit we’ve loved forever.
